Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 18 and 85 years
  • People who have been diagnosed with a condition called CTEPH (a type of high blood pressure in the lungs caused by blood clots) confirmed by a specialist team, and who have been assessed as suitable for a procedure called BPA (Balloon Pulmonary Angioplasty)

  • People whose main diagnosis is a different type of high lung blood pressure (other than CTEPH), or who also have severe lung tissue disease
  • People with an active infection, an uncontrolled serious illness, an active cancer, or a life expectancy of less than 12 months
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People with severely reduced kidney function (a kidney filtration rate below a certain level) or who cannot safely receive the contrast dye used in imaging procedures
  • People whose heart ultrasound (echocardiogram) images are not clear enough to be reliably analysed
  • People whose heart pressure recordings are too disrupted to analyse accurately, or who have an uncontrolled irregular heart rhythm (such as a fast, irregular heartbeat)
  • People whose condition is currently unstable or who are in a medically deteriorating state
  • People whom the trial investigator considers clinically unsuitable for any other reason
