Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are a child or young person aged 6 to 18 years old with active Crohn's disease
- Your Crohn's disease is currently active, shown by a specific disease activity score or a stool test result above a certain level (confirm with trial site)
- For the main part of the trial: you are about to start standard treatment with a type of medication called a TNF-alpha inhibitor (either infliximab or adalimumab)
- For the observation part of the trial: you are about to start a liquid-only diet treatment (called exclusive enteral nutrition, or EEN), either alongside or without infliximab or adalimumab
Who may not be able to join:
- The young person (aged 16–18) cannot give their own consent to take part, or the parent/carer of a child (aged 6–15) is unable to give consent on their behalf
- The patient has a stoma (a surgically created opening in the abdomen) or has short bowel syndrome
- The patient is currently taking steroid medicines (such as prednisolone or budesonide) above a certain daily dose (confirm with trial site)
- The patient has recently started a new Crohn's treatment or changed the dose of certain background medicines (such as azathioprine, mercaptopurine, or methotrexate) within the past 4 weeks
- The patient's Crohn's disease mainly involves complex tunnelling wounds (fistulas) or significant narrowing of the bowel causing symptoms
- The patient has been diagnosed with anorexia nervosa
- There is a medical reason why the patient should not have a liquid-only or partial liquid diet (confirm with trial site)
- The patient has tested positive for HIV, Hepatitis B, or Hepatitis C
- The patient has tuberculosis that has not been treated, whether active or a hidden (latent) infection
- The patient is currently taking part in another clinical trial or dietary study
- The patient has food allergies that would prevent them from following the diet required in this trial (for example, a cow's milk allergy)
- The patient is pregnant or breastfeeding
