Who might be able to join this trial:

• You have been diagnosed with severe Alopecia Areata (a condition causing significant hair loss on the scalp)
• Your hair loss covers between 50% and 90% of your scalp, as measured by a standard hair loss scoring tool
• Your current episode of severe hair loss has been going on for at least 6 months but no longer than 4 years
• In your doctor's opinion, your hair has not significantly grown back on its own in at least the past 6 months
• You are willing to avoid using any hair loss treatments during the study

Who may not be able to join:

• Your hair loss is mainly the "diffuse" type, which means hair is shedding thinly and widely across the scalp rather than in patches
• You are currently experiencing another type of hair loss condition
• You have an unstable ongoing health condition that requires frequent hospital stays or regular use of medications that suppress the immune system (confirm with trial site)
• You have previously taken JAK inhibitor medications by mouth (a specific type of drug used to treat certain immune conditions)
• You have had a major surgery in the past 8 weeks, or you expect to need major surgery during the study
• You have a history of, or currently have, serious or unstable conditions affecting the heart, lungs, liver, digestive system, hormones, blood, brain, or mental health
