Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a specific type of glaucoma called primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG)
- You are 50 years old or older (any gender can participate)
- (For Case Group A) You are already scheduled for glaucoma surgery, and during that surgery the supporting fibres holding the eye's lens in place are found to be looser than normal
- (For Case Group B) You are already scheduled for glaucoma surgery, and during that surgery the supporting fibres holding the eye's lens in place are found to be normal
- (For the Control Group) You are a similar age and gender to those in the case groups, have been diagnosed with an age-related cataract, have a normal eye structure, have no history or signs of glaucoma, and are scheduled for cataract surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a type of glaucoma that was caused by another condition or factor (called secondary glaucoma)
- You have had any previous surgery inside the eye
- You have a whole-body (systemic) illness or condition that is known to affect the tiny fibres that hold the eye's lens in place (confirm with trial site)
- You have another serious eye disease in addition to the condition being studied
- You have been taking medicines for a long time that affect how your body's connective tissues work (confirm with trial site)
