Who might be able to join this trial:
- The stroke occurred at least 6 months before joining the trial.
- No thinking or communication difficulties that would get in the way of taking part.
- Able to stand independently for 20 seconds or more.
- Able to walk 10 meters on their own, with or without a walking aid or brace if needed.
- Aged between 18 and 75 years.
- Has reached at least stage 4 on the Brunnstrom scale for leg movement, meaning some controlled movement has returned to the affected leg (confirm with trial site).
Who may not be able to join:
- Has severe osteoarthritis in the legs or feet.
- Has been diagnosed with cancer or diabetic nerve damage (diabetic neuropathy).
- Has a condition affecting balance through the inner ear (vestibular disorder).
- Has an open wound (ulcer) or an amputation on a leg or foot.
- Has a history of vertigo (a spinning or dizziness sensation).
- Has consumed alcohol in the 24 hours before participating.
- Has an unstable heart rate or blood pressure (confirm with trial site).
- Had a stroke affecting the back part of the brain, specifically the basilar artery or cerebellum (posterior circulation stroke).
- Has another neurological condition such as multiple sclerosis or Parkinson's disease.
- Has had an injury to the leg or foot within the past 6 weeks.
- Has a history of surgery on the legs or feet.
