Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are current or former patients at the Department of Psychiatry, Shanghai Mental Health Center (either attending outpatient appointments or admitted to the ward)
- People who have been diagnosed with first-episode schizophrenia according to a standard diagnostic interview, with the condition having lasted less than 5 years at the time of joining the trial
- People aged between 16 and 45 years old, of any gender
- People who have completed at least 9 years of formal education
- People who have been on a stable psychiatric medication regimen for at least 6 weeks before the start of the study, with generally stable symptoms in the month before joining
- People (and their guardians, where applicable) who are able to understand and sign a written consent form
- People whose schizophrenia negative symptoms score above a certain threshold on a standard psychiatric rating scale (confirm specific score details with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have, or have previously had, other psychiatric disorders identified through a standard clinical interview
- People with serious or unstable physical health conditions, including neurological conditions (such as dementia, stroke, or epilepsy), heart conditions, high blood pressure, high blood sugar, cancer, or conditions that affect the immune system
- People who have consumed alcohol heavily in the 30 days before the study, or who have had alcohol or drug dependence in the 6 months before the study
- People who have taken part in another clinical trial in the 30 days before joining this study
- People who are pregnant or breastfeeding
- People with an intellectual disability, indicated by an IQ score below 70
