Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People who are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part, as required by regulations
  • People aged 18 or older, male or female
  • People who are scheduled to have a full knee replacement for the first time due to osteoarthritis (joint wear and tear)
  • People whose surgery will use a specific knee implant called the Attune® prosthesis, with a technique that keeps a ligament in the knee intact (called posterior cruciate ligament retention) and includes resurfacing of the kneecap

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have previously had ligament reconstruction surgery
  • People who have had a fracture or bone surgery (such as a bone-cutting procedure called an osteotomy) on the same leg's thigh bone or shin bone — though prior hip or ankle surgery on that side is not automatically excluded (confirm with trial site)
  • People whose knee is already quite stiff before surgery, either unable to straighten fully (bent more than 15°) or unable to bend past 90°
  • People who are currently under court or government-ordered restriction of personal freedom
  • People who are not enrolled in a social security (health insurance) system
  • People who are not able to understand French
  • People who have a cognitive impairment (such as memory or thinking difficulties) that would affect their ability to take part
  • People whose home location would make it difficult to attend regular follow-up appointments
  • Women who could become pregnant and are not using effective contraception
  • Women who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
