Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People between 45 and 65 years old
  • People of any gender
  • People who have had a stroke between 3 and 6 months ago (known as the sub-acute stage)
  • People whose cognitive (thinking and memory) abilities score above 24 on a standard mental assessment test called the Mini Mental State Examination
  • People whose trunk (core body) control scores 20 or just under 23 on a standard assessment called the Trunk Impairment Scale
  • People who have had their first-ever ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel)
  • People who are able to tolerate at least 60 minutes of exercise, based on a balance assessment called the Berg Balance Scale scoring less than 8
  • People who are willing to sign a written consent form agreeing to participate

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have severe loss of vision on one side of their visual field
  • People who have serious active conditions affecting the heart, brain, kidneys, or other major organs
  • People who have nerve damage affecting sensation, such as diabetic neuropathy
  • People whose balance problems are caused by a neurological condition other than stroke
