Who might be able to join this trial:
- Radiation therapy and chemotherapy must have been completed at least three months before joining the trial
- At least six months must have passed since a mastectomy (surgical removal of one breast) for breast cancer, with either no lymphedema (arm swelling) or only early-stage (stage 1) lymphedema
- The mastectomy must have been a complete removal of one breast (not both)
- The person must have pain along with one or more of the following: a feeling of heaviness, numbness, pressure, stiffness, changes in how the arm or shoulder works, or limited movement in the shoulder on the side of the surgery
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have a shoulder condition that doctors have recommended needs surgery
- People who have a musculoskeletal injury (affecting muscles, bones, or joints) in nearby areas such as the shoulder or neck
- People who had surgery on both breasts as part of their breast cancer treatment
- People who had lymph nodes removed from both sides of the body
- People who have open wounds on either arm
- People who have circulatory (blood flow) problems
- People who have previously had shoulder surgery for reasons unrelated to breast cancer
