Who might be able to join this trial:

  • People aged between 50 and 65 years old
  • Both men and women are eligible
  • People who had an ischemic stroke (a stroke caused by a blocked blood vessel) between 3 and 6 months ago

  • People who have a pacemaker fitted, or who have any other medical reason that would make electrical muscle stimulation (NMES) unsafe for them
  • People who have serious uncontrolled health conditions, such as severe heart disease
