Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been formally diagnosed with anorexia nervosa (AN) by the UCSF Eating Disorders Program clinical team
  • You are currently receiving outpatient treatment for an eating disorder and are medically stable enough to take part in a group-based program
  • You are fluent in English, as the program involves reflective writing and group discussions
  • You have the thinking and reasoning ability to take part in story- and narrative-based exercises

Who may not be able to join:

  • You are currently medically unstable or need to be in a hospital for your care
  • You have a history of psychosis, a schizophrenia-related condition, bipolar disorder, or a personality disorder
  • You have a significant cognitive or brain-related condition that would make it difficult to take part in the program's activities
  • You have had thoughts of suicide or have harmed yourself (without the intention of suicide) at any point in the last two months
  • You do not have enough English language ability to take part in group discussions and writing exercises
