Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who have been diagnosed with Grade III knee osteoarthritis (a specific level of knee joint wear and tear), confirmed by an X-ray taken within the past 12 months or a new one taken for this trial
• People whose knee pain has a nerve-related component, confirmed by a short questionnaire called the DN-4 (a score of 4 or higher is required)
• People aged between 40 and 70 years old (inclusive)
• Both men and women are eligible

• People who are willing and able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part
• People who are able to attend 4 sessions per week for 4 weeks in a row (16 sessions in total)
• People who can understand and follow spoken instructions during treatment sessions

Who may not be able to join:

• People whose nerve pain is caused by diabetes, rather than by knee osteoarthritis
• People who have open wounds, skin infections, active sores, or skin irritation on the knee or calf area
• People who have metal implants (including a knee replacement), a pacemaker, or any other electronic implant in their body
• People who have had a steroid or joint-lubricating injection into the knee within the past 3 months
• People whose knee osteoarthritis is graded as Grade I, II, or IV (only Grade III is accepted for this trial)
• People who have an inflammatory joint condition such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, or gout affecting the knee
• People who have significant leg or knee alignment problems beyond certain measurements (confirm with trial site)
• People who have previously had a partial or full knee replacement surgery
• People who have a known allergy to pregabalin, gabapentin, or any gel products used in the treatment
• Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
• People who are already taking part in another clinical trial involving a treatment or intervention
• People who have been diagnosed with fibromyalgia, complex regional pain syndrome, or another widespread pain condition that could affect how nerve pain is measured
• People with an active cancer diagnosis or a history of cancer involving the knee
• People who have or have had a blood clot in the leg (deep vein thrombosis or thrombophlebitis)
