- People who have been diagnosed with a stroke (either a blocked blood vessel type or a bleeding in the brain type)

- People who have not received any rehabilitation treatment during the 6 months since their stroke

- People with other conditions affecting the nerves, muscles, or joints of the upper limb
- People with severe difficulty with language or speech that makes communication very limited
- People with any other muscle or joint problems that would interfere with completing tasks in the trial
- People with serious medical conditions that are not well managed or controlled
- People who do not have a support person (attendant) available to be present during sessions
- People experiencing depression that would prevent them from cooperating during the sessions
