Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults who have been diagnosed with hormone receptor-positive (HR+) early breast cancer
- People who are at least 18 years old at the time of signing the consent form
- People whose treating doctor has determined them suitable for hormone-blocking therapy combined with a medicine called Abemaciclib (either covered by health insurance or self-funded)
- People who have finished prior chemotherapy at least 21 days before joining, and whose chemotherapy side effects (apart from hair loss or mild numbness/tingling in hands or feet) have largely settled down
- People with a good general level of physical functioning — able to carry out daily activities with no or minimal limitations (confirm with trial site)
- People with blood counts and liver function results within acceptable ranges, as confirmed by recent blood tests
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- People who have taken antibiotic treatment for an active infection within the 2 weeks before starting the study
- People with serious pre-existing health conditions, including severely reduced kidney function, lung disease affecting the lung tissue, severe breathlessness at rest or a need for oxygen, a history of major stomach or small bowel surgery, or ongoing bowel conditions such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis that cause significant diarrhoea
- People with a history of certain heart conditions, including fainting caused by a heart problem, dangerous irregular heart rhythms, or sudden cardiac arrest (note: people with well-controlled atrial fibrillation that has been stable for at least 30 days may still be considered eligible — confirm with trial site)
- People who are unwilling or unable to give written consent to participate
- People who are unwilling to avoid taking other probiotic or prebiotic supplements from the start of the study through to its completion
