Who might be able to join this trial:
- Be between 7 and 16 years old
- Have been diagnosed with cerebral palsy that affects one side of the body, confirmed by a children's brain specialist
- Be able to walk and move at a fairly independent level (levels I or II on a standard movement ability scale used by doctors)
- Score above 24 on a standard thinking and understanding test designed for children
- Have no cognitive (thinking or learning) difficulties that would prevent following simple task instructions
- Both the child and their family are willing to take part in the study
- Have a moderate to good level of hand and arm function (levels I to III on a standard hand use scale)
- Be able to communicate at a functional level (levels I to III on a standard communication scale)
Who may not be able to join:
- Children who have seizures that are not well controlled by medication
- Children who have received specific brain-based movement training (motor imagery training or action observation therapy) in the last 6 months
- Children who have tightness or stiffness in their muscles or joints that limits movement (contractures)
- Children with serious problems with their vision or hearing
- Children who have a lower level of independent movement ability (levels III, IV, or V on the standard movement scale)
- Children who score below 24 on the standard children's thinking and understanding test
- Children with lower hand and arm function ability (levels IV or V on the standard hand use scale)
- Children who have had bone or joint surgery, or Botox injections for muscle stiffness, within the last 6 months
