Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are between 18 and 40 years old
- You are female
- You are not planning to become pregnant from the time you sign the consent form until 2 months after your last dose of the study drug, and you are willing to use contraception methods approved by the study during this time
- You meet at least two of the following signs of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) based on 2023 international guidelines: (1) irregular periods — such as cycles shorter than 21 days or longer than 35–45 days depending on how long you have been menstruating, or fewer than 8 periods per year; (2) a certain appearance of the ovaries on ultrasound, showing 20 or more small follicles in at least one ovary; (3) higher-than-normal male hormone (androgen) levels, either shown in a blood test or through physical signs such as excess body hair
Who may not be able to join:
- You have used hormonal contraceptives (such as the pill) within the past 2 months
- You have a history of pancreatitis (inflammation of the pancreas) or pancreatic injury
- You or a close family member has a history of a specific type of thyroid cancer (medullary thyroid carcinoma) or a condition called multiple endocrine neoplasia type 2A or 2B
- You have been diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes
- You have another hormonal or gland-related condition that could also cause PCOS-like symptoms, such as certain adrenal gland disorders, a pituitary gland tumour, an underactive thyroid, or Cushing's syndrome
- You are currently taking, or stopped less than 2 months ago, certain medications that affect reproductive hormones — such as GnRH drugs, anti-androgen treatments, or gonadotropins
- You are currently taking, or stopped less than 1 month ago, certain medications that affect metabolism — such as metformin or similar diabetes-related drugs
- You have had weight-loss (bariatric) surgery within the past 12 months
- You have been treated with a type of medication called a GLP-1 receptor agonist within the past 12 months
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a serious disease affecting a major organ such as the heart, liver, or kidneys, or you have any form of cancer
- You have any other condition that the trial doctor feels could interfere with the study or make it unsafe for you to participate (confirm with trial site)
