Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing to take part and able to sign a consent form
- You are between 18 and 70 years old
- You have been diagnosed with epithelial ovarian cancer (a specific type of ovarian cancer) and are scheduled for initial surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible, with or without the cancer having spread within the abdomen or to other parts of the body (at stage IIB or higher)
- A recent colonoscopy showed no cancer growing into the inner lining of the bowel
- A pre-surgery scan using an enhanced pelvic MRI shows the tumor is affecting the surface of the intestine and/or a large part of the tissue connecting the intestines (the mesentery)
- You are reasonably active and able to care for yourself, based on a standard medical fitness score (confirm with trial site)
- You are considered fit enough to safely undergo general anesthesia and surgery, based on a standard anesthesia risk score (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You have had another type of cancer in the past, or you are currently receiving treatment for any other cancer
- You have serious health conditions that mean you would not be able to safely tolerate surgery
- Your ovarian cancer was only discovered unexpectedly during emergency surgery
- You are currently taking part in another clinical trial
- This would be a second surgery to reduce your tumor (not your first)
- You have previously had radiation therapy to your abdomen or pelvis
