Who might be able to join this trial:

• Women between 30 and 80 years of age
• People who have had a bleeding or blockage-type stroke confirmed by a brain scan (CT), where the stroke occurred more than 1 month ago, supported by hospital discharge paperwork
• People who are able to control their upper body while sitting upright
• People who score more than 14 points on a standard memory and thinking test called the Minimental Examination
• People who have some ability to use their affected hand, specifically being able to pick up and let go of a small ball, and who are able to sign or otherwise give written consent

Who may not be able to join:

• People who have shoulder pain rated higher than 4 out of 10, or significant muscle stiffness in the affected arm rated above 2 on a standard medical scale
• People who have significant problems with vision or hearing
• People who have severe difficulty speaking or understanding language (severe aphasia)
• People who have a cochlear implant, aneurysm clips, electrodes in the brain, or a cardiac pacemaker
• People who have epilepsy or a diagnosed psychiatric condition within the last 3 months
• People who are pregnant or are currently taking psychiatric medications
