Who might be able to join this trial:

For stroke participants:

  • People who had a stroke on one side of the body, at least 3 months ago
  • People whose arm and hand movement ability falls within a specific range, as measured by a standard assessment tool called the Fugl-Meyer Assessment (confirm with trial site for exact score requirements)
  • People who have limited muscle stiffness in the shoulder and elbow area, and even less stiffness in the wrist and hand area, as measured by a standard scale
  • People who are able to follow two-step instructions
  • People who do not have excessive muscle stiffness in any part of the arm or hand

For healthy participants:

  • People who have no neurological conditions
  • People who have no conditions affecting the muscles or joints of the arm or hand

Who may not be able to join:

For stroke participants:

  • People with bone or joint problems affecting the arm or hand, or other conditions affecting the nervous system
  • People experiencing severe pain in the affected arm or hand that stops them from moving it
  • People who have an implanted heart pacemaker or defibrillator device
  • People with osteoporosis, a bone fracture, or severe problems with balance and coordination
  • People whose general health is currently unstable
  • People who are already taking part in another rehabilitation or medication study at the same time
  • People who have received Botulinum toxin (such as Botox) injections in the last 3 months
