Who might be able to join this trial:

  • Adults aged 18 or older
  • People who have been diagnosed with one of the following: Stage IV cancer of any solid tumor type that has spread to other parts of the body, Stage III ovarian cancer that has come back after treatment, "extensive stage" small cell lung cancer, or glioblastoma (a type of brain tumor) at any stage
  • People who are well enough at the time of joining to understand the study, agree to take part on their own, attend sessions, and write for 30 minutes — confirmed by a standard health and functioning assessment (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are experiencing elevated levels of fear about their cancer coming back, as well as trauma-related symptoms connected to their cancer, at levels that meet specific score thresholds on two screening questionnaires (confirm with trial site)
  • People who speak English or Spanish fluently and can read English well enough to complete surveys

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who have a history of long-term, untreated trauma that is unrelated to their cancer, a psychiatric hospitalisation or suicide attempt in the past two years, or who are currently at high risk of suicide, as identified during screening
  • People who have a documented diagnosis of cognitive impairment, such as dementia, recorded in their medical file
