AI generated eligibility summary. Written by an AI model from the official source data and checked on a sample basis. It can contain mistakes, so confirm anything important against the original source. How we use AI

Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been approved to receive Vagus Nerve Stimulation (VNS) — a type of nerve therapy — along with rehabilitation treatment
  • You are between 22 and 80 years old
  • You have chosen to have VNS therapy specifically to help with arm and hand weakness caused by a stroke
  • You still have some ability to move your thumb and at least two other fingers on the arm affected by your stroke
  • Your stroke has also affected your legs and the way you walk, but you can walk at least some distance on your own (confirm with trial site)
  • You are able to understand and follow simple instructions, and can walk short distances on your own — with or without a walking aid or leg brace — but without someone physically holding or supporting you

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your leg and lower limb movement is fully intact with no stroke-related weakness (confirm with trial site)
  • You are not considered a suitable candidate for VNS therapy based on guidelines set by the FDA (the US medical regulatory body)
  • You are currently pregnant
