  • You are between 18 and 65 years old
  • You have Crohn's disease with a complex anal fistula (a tunnel-like tract near your back passage that has at least one additional branch or opening)
  • Previous treatments have not worked well enough — specifically, at least one biologic medication (a type of advanced drug) and/or at least one surgery aimed at preserving muscle control in the area
  • A recent MRI scan shows no sign of infection or abscess (a pocket of pus) in the area
  • A camera examination of your bowel shows little or no inflammation in the area just inside the back passage
  • Your Crohn's disease is not severely active overall (based on a standard scoring system)
  • Any current Crohn's medications have been at a stable dose for at least 8 weeks
  • You are able to understand the study information and agree to take part

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have a fistula (abnormal tunnel) connecting the bowel to the vagina
  • You have severe, active inflammation in the area just inside the back passage that needs urgent treatment
  • There is any cancer or tumour present in the fistula tract or the surrounding pelvic area
  • You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have a very high-risk medical condition for anaesthesia or surgery, or a condition that affects blood clotting (confirm with trial site)
  • You have any reason you cannot safely have an MRI scan (for example, certain metal implants)
