Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have been diagnosed with COPD and your lung function is significantly reduced, or you were hospitalised due to COPD in the past year, or you had two or more moderate COPD flare-ups in the past year.
  • You have been diagnosed with a scarring or stiffening lung disease (interstitial lung disease) with reduced lung capacity or reduced ability to transfer oxygen into the blood.
  • You have been diagnosed with bronchiectasis, had at least two flare-ups or one hospitalisation in the past year, and have reduced lung function.
  • You have been diagnosed with pulmonary arterial hypertension (high blood pressure in the lungs).
  • You are willing to take part in either an in-person or remote (online/app-based) lung rehabilitation programme.
  • A member of the study team has assessed that you are physically able to take part in the rehabilitation activities.
  • You are willing to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study.

Who may not be able to join:

  • You have another serious health condition that is not well controlled, such as severe heart failure (confirm with trial site).
  • You are unable to use a mobile phone app.
  • You do not have access to a mobile phone or computer.
  • You were hospitalised in the two months before joining the study.
  • You have already completed a lung rehabilitation programme within the last 12 months.
  • You are unable to complete 10 sit-to-stand movements in one minute, or cannot balance on one leg for at least 5 seconds.
  • You are pregnant.
  • You are unable to give informed consent due to difficulty making decisions for yourself, as assessed by the study team.
