Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 18 or older
- People who are able to sign a written consent form agreeing to take part
- People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body or cannot be surgically removed
- People who are already being seen and treated by the medical oncology team at the Royal Marsden Hospital
Additionally, depending on the cancer type, one of the following groups may apply:
Cohort 1 – Advanced or Spread Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC):
- People with a specific type of lung cancer driven by certain gene changes (such as EGFR, ALK, ROS1, RET, MET, BRAF, NTRK, HER2, or KRAS), whose cancer has started growing again while on a targeted treatment, within the last 6 weeks
Cohort 2 – Advanced or Spread Gastrointestinal Stromal Tumour (GIST):
- People with a GIST that has spread or cannot be removed, whose cancer has started growing again while on a targeted treatment, within the last 6 weeks
Cohort 3 – Spread Colorectal (Bowel) Cancer:
- People with colorectal cancer that has spread, arising from the left side of the bowel, with a specific genetic profile (RAS wild type), where the cancer has started growing again within the last 6 weeks — the exact prior treatment required depends on whether the tumour tests positive or negative for a protein called HER2 (confirm with trial site)
Cohort 4 – Advanced or Spread Bile Tract Cancer (BTC):
- People with bile tract cancer that has a specific targetable gene change (such as IDH1, HER2, FGFR2, NTRK, BRAF, or a DNA repair defect called dMMR), whose cancer has started growing again on a targeted treatment within the last 6 weeks
Cohort 5 – Advanced or Spread Ovarian Cancer:
- People diagnosed with advanced high-grade ovarian cancer, whose BRCA gene status is known, and whose cancer has started growing again after receiving a specific type of maintenance treatment (a PARP inhibitor, with or without bevacizumab) following platinum-based chemotherapy, within the last 6 weeks
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are not medically well enough to go through the blood or tissue sampling required by the study
- People whose general health and physical function falls into a lower category based on a standard medical scale — specifically, those rated 3 or above on the ECOG scale, meaning those who are spending more than half their waking hours in bed or unable to carry out basic self-care (confirm with trial site)
