Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 14 years or older.
• People who are able to give written consent to participate; for those under the legal age of consent, a parent or legal guardian's consent and the young person's own agreement are required under local ethics rules.
• People who are willing to share health information and/or biological samples, which may include blood, stool, intestinal tissue, or other biological material.
• People who are able to take part in data and sample collection as set out in the study plan.
• People who have been diagnosed with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), including Crohn's disease, ulcerative colitis, or IBD-unclassified, based on accepted diagnostic guidelines — whether newly diagnosed, previously diagnosed, in routine follow-up, or receiving ongoing treatment.
• Biological close relatives (parents, siblings, or children) of someone with IBD who have not themselves been diagnosed with IBD, and who are willing to provide health information and/or samples for research into genetics, environment, the immune system, and gut bacteria.
• People without IBD and without a close biological relationship to anyone enrolled in the study, who have no known active inflammatory gut disease at the time of joining.
• People who have gut symptoms or other non-IBD conditions and are undergoing clinical assessment but have not been diagnosed with IBD, where their information and/or samples may be collected for comparison purposes.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are unable or unwilling to give the required consent or agreement to participate.
• People with a serious active infection or ongoing infectious disease that could significantly affect test results, including active tuberculosis, active hepatitis B or C, HIV infection, or other clinically significant active infections.
• People who are pregnant or breastfeeding at the time of enrolment.
• People with severe mental illness, significant cognitive impairment, or another condition that would prevent them from participating in study procedures.
• People whose main diagnosed condition is a known autoimmune or systemic inflammatory disease outside the gut, where this could significantly affect the interpretation of research results.
• People currently or recently taking part in another clinical intervention trial that could significantly affect the study's measurements or results, as assessed by the research team.
• People with a history of a malignant tumour (cancer) or another serious health condition that could significantly affect their participation or the interpretation of results, as assessed by the research team.
• People whose biological samples are of insufficient quality, whose key health information is unavailable, or who are unable to complete the essential assessments needed for the relevant part of the study.
