Who might be able to join this trial:

• People who are in good general health and are mostly able to carry out daily activities (based on a standard medical performance score of 0 or 1).
• People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of oesophageal (food pipe) cancer called squamous cell carcinoma, confirmed through a tissue or cell sample.
• People whose cancer has spread to a limited number of sites only, with no history of the cancer spreading widely throughout the body.
• People whose cancer has spread to no more than four sites in total, with no more than three sites in any single organ, and where each individual spread of cancer is no larger than 5 cm across.
• People who are willing to have a biopsy of a spread site, a PET/CT scan, and a specific protein test (PD-L1 CPS) — these are not required but are preferred by the trial.
• People who have not previously been treated with a type of immunotherapy called anti-PD-1 or anti-PD-L1, or people who received this type of immunotherapy during early treatment phases, or who stopped it for reasons other than serious side effects or disease worsening, provided the break has lasted more than 3 months.
• People whose blood counts, liver, kidney, and clotting functions meet specific healthy thresholds as measured by laboratory tests (confirm with trial site for exact values).
• People who voluntarily agree to participate and sign an informed consent form, either themselves or through a legal representative.

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
• People whose lungs would receive too high a radiation dose based on a specific lung radiation measurement (called V20 over 25%) (confirm with trial site).
• People who have, or are suspected to have, a hole or opening in the oesophagus (called a fistula).
• People whose cancer has come back in an area that has already been treated with radiation.
• People who have an active infection that requires treatment with medicines throughout the whole body.
• People who have an active autoimmune disease (where the immune system attacks the body) that has required treatment within the past two years.
• People with a weakened immune system, or who have been taking steroid or immune-suppressing medicines within 7 days before starting the trial.
• People who have previously had serious (grade 3 or higher) side effects from immunotherapy treatment, or whose side effects from prior treatment have not sufficiently resolved.
• People who have uncontrolled build-up of fluid around the lungs, heart, or in the abdomen that needs to be drained repeatedly.
• People who are unable or unwilling to receive immunotherapy treatment, or who cannot follow the trial's schedule and requirements.
• People who are not able to provide informed consent.
