Who might be able to join this trial:

• People aged 18 or older
• People brought to the emergency department with signs of a possible stroke, identified by ambulance paramedics as a stroke alert
• People whose stroke symptoms started less than 12 hours before arriving at the hospital
• People admitted to the emergency department at Leiden University Medical Center (LUMC) during regular business hours
• People who are already having a standard CT scan of the head as part of their normal emergency care
• People who are able to give consent to participate, either in writing or verbally during the emergency situation, with the option to provide full written consent later if needed

Who may not be able to join:

• People who are expected to die very soon
• People with severe claustrophobia (extreme fear of enclosed spaces) that would prevent them from having an MRI scan
• People who have certain implanted medical devices that are not safe to use near an MRI machine, such as a pacemaker, cochlear implant, or insulin pump
• People found to have a metal fragment in or near the eye, or a metal clip or device inside the skull, identified on their initial CT scan
• People who are pregnant
• People with another immediately life-threatening or severely disabling condition that requires urgent treatment and would prevent participation in the study
• People whose involvement in the study would cause delays that could interfere with time-sensitive stroke treatments, such as clot-dissolving medication or a procedure to remove a clot from a blood vessel
