Who might be able to join this trial:

If you have a known blood cancer (lymphoid malignancy):

• You have been diagnosed with a lymphoid blood cancer or a condition that may lead to one, such as multiple myeloma, Hodgkin's lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, or similar conditions
• Your diagnosis has been or can be confirmed using tissue samples reviewed by the NCI Laboratory of Pathology
• You are 18 years of age or older
• You are generally able to carry out daily activities and care for yourself (your doctor will assess this)
• You, or a legally authorized person acting on your behalf, are able and willing to sign a consent form

If you do NOT have a known blood cancer:

• You are scheduled for a surgical procedure during which blood or normal lymph node or tissue samples could be collected for research
• You are considered medically suitable for the planned surgery
• You are 18 years of age or older
• You are able and willing to sign a consent form

Optional blood collection procedure (apheresis) — only if you qualify and agree:

• Your hemoglobin and platelet levels are at an acceptable level (confirm with trial site)
• You weigh more than 25 kg (approximately 55 lbs)
• You have tested negative for HIV
• Your blood clotting levels are within the normal range
• You have suitable vein access or an existing central line already in place for medical reasons

Who may not be able to join:

If you have a known blood cancer:

• You are currently pregnant
• You have a serious active condition affecting a major organ, such as heart disease, a recent heart attack, heart failure, or significant breathing problems, which could make biopsies or blood collection procedures more risky
• You have an active medical or mental health condition that could increase risk or prevent you from giving informed consent, as determined by the lead doctor

If you do NOT have a known blood cancer:

• You are currently pregnant
• You currently have another active cancer (note: certain past skin cancers that were fully treated, early-stage melanoma, or cancers treated with curative intent with no signs of disease for 2 or more years may still be eligible — confirm with trial site)
• You have an active medical or mental health condition that could increase risk or prevent you from giving informed consent, as determined by the lead doctor
