- People aged 18 to 80 years old, of any gender, who have had nerve pain on one side of the body that has not responded to medication for more than one year, with a pain score above 2 during the first assessment week.
- People whose pain medication has remained unchanged for at least one month.
- People whose doctor has considered non-medication treatment options due to their pain not responding to drugs, and who have started a pre-surgical assessment process.
- People who have access to a working internet connection, either personally or through someone in their close circle, in order to connect to the remote stimulation system used in the trial.
- People who have previously experienced pain relief from a brain stimulation technique called tDCS (whether in a single session or over a week of sessions).
- People who have French social security coverage.
- People who have given their written agreement to take part in the trial.
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a history of drug addiction.
- People with a history of epilepsy.
- People who have a metal implant in their skull or an implanted electrical stimulation device (such as a brain pacemaker or nerve stimulator).
- People who have started a new pain medication less than one month ago.
- Women of childbearing age who do not have effective contraception in place for the full duration of the trial (note: this restriction does not apply to male participants of childbearing age).
- People who are under a legal protection order (confirm with trial site).
- Women who are pregnant or currently breastfeeding.
