Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged 50 years or older
- People who have been receiving ranibizumab injections to treat wet age-related macular degeneration (a condition causing vision loss) for up to one year
- People whose vision in the eye being studied measures at least 20/400 on a standard eye chart test called ETDRS (this represents a minimum level of remaining vision)
- People who are willing and able to attend regular check-up visits for the trial
- People who have read and signed a consent form agreeing to take part
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had any surgical procedure on the eye being studied within the 3 months before the trial starts
- People who have a history of poorly controlled glaucoma (high pressure inside the eye) in the eye being studied, where the eye pressure has remained at 25 mmHg or higher even while using glaucoma medication
- People who are missing the natural lens of the eye being studied, or are missing the lens capsule (a thin membrane that holds the lens in place), not counting a specific laser procedure called YAG-capsulotomy (confirm with trial site)
- People who have a tear or damage to a specific layer at the back of the eye (the retinal pigment epithelium) that affects the central area of vision (the macula) in the eye being studied
