Who might be able to join this trial:
- You have been diagnosed with a condition called MGUS (monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance), meaning your blood or urine shows a small abnormal protein, less than 10% of your bone marrow cells are abnormal plasma cells, and you have no signs of active disease or amyloidosis (an abnormal protein build-up in organs)
- You have been diagnosed with smoldering multiple myeloma, meaning your blood or urine shows a higher level of abnormal protein and/or 10–60% of your bone marrow cells are abnormal plasma cells, but you have no signs of active disease or amyloidosis
Who may not be able to join:
- Your blood calcium levels are too high (confirm with trial site)
- Your kidneys are not working well enough, based on blood or urine tests (confirm with trial site)
- You have anaemia, meaning your red blood cell levels are too low (confirm with trial site)
- You have bone damage or lesions seen on an X-ray, CT scan, or PET-CT scan
- 60% or more of your bone marrow cells are abnormal plasma cells
- A specific blood test measuring proteins called free light chains shows a very high abnormal ratio (confirm with trial site)
- An MRI scan shows more than one area of concern, each measuring at least 5mm
- You have previously received or are currently receiving treatment (other than bisphosphonate bone-strengthening drugs) for your condition, including chemotherapy or other trial drugs
- You have a condition called plasma cell leukaemia
- You have an uncontrolled ongoing illness, such as an active infection, or mental health or personal circumstances that would make it difficult to follow the trial requirements
