Who might be able to join this trial:

  • You have a pacemaker or a device called an implanted cardioverter defibrillator (ICD) that has a lead (wire) connected to the upper chamber of your heart
  • You have a score of 2 or more on a stroke risk assessment tool called the CHADS-VASc score (confirm with trial site)
  • Your heart is beating in a normal, regular rhythm, or your pacemaker is controlling your heart's upper chamber rhythm
  • Your pacemaker is pacing (sending electrical signals to) the upper chamber of your heart 50% of the time or less
  • Your device has switched modes (a sign it detected an irregular heartbeat) 50% of the time or less since your last device check-up

Who may not be able to join:

  • Your pacemaker or ICD is not working properly or has a fault
  • You were found to be in atrial fibrillation (a type of irregular heartbeat) at the time your device was checked
  • You were found to have atrial fibrillation during a 24-hour heart monitoring test (called a Holter ECG)
  • You have permanent atrial fibrillation, meaning your heart is always in this irregular rhythm
