Who might be able to join this trial:
For families:
- At least one close blood relative (parent, sibling, or child) in the family has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
- The family member with type 1 diabetes was diagnosed before the age of 39
- Family members taking part must be at least 2 years old
For control participants (people without a family history of diabetes):
- No personal or family history of type 1 diabetes or other autoimmune conditions
- Must be at least 2 years old
Who may not be able to join:
For families:
- Families where no one has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
- Families where the only diabetes diagnoses are types other than type 1, such as type 2 diabetes, LADA, or MODY
For control participants:
- People who have a personal or family history of any autoimmune disease (confirm with trial site for which conditions this includes)
