For families:

  • At least one close blood relative (parent, sibling, or child) in the family has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
  • The family member with type 1 diabetes was diagnosed before the age of 39
  • Family members taking part must be at least 2 years old

For control participants (people without a family history of diabetes):

  • No personal or family history of type 1 diabetes or other autoimmune conditions
  • Must be at least 2 years old

For families:

  • Families where no one has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes
  • Families where the only diabetes diagnoses are types other than type 1, such as type 2 diabetes, LADA, or MODY

For control participants:

  • People who have a personal or family history of any autoimmune disease (confirm with trial site for which conditions this includes)
