Who might be able to join this trial:
Group 1 (people with mesothelioma):
- You have been diagnosed with mesothelioma, confirmed by a pathology test
- You have a harmful inherited change (mutation) in a gene called BAP1, identified through either a research or clinical test
- You are at least 2 years old
Group 2 (people without mesothelioma):
- You have an inherited BAP1 gene mutation but have not had mesothelioma (having had other cancers is allowed)
- You do not have mesothelioma, but a parent, sibling, or child has been diagnosed with mesothelioma
- You do not have mesothelioma, but a parent, sibling, or child has a confirmed inherited BAP1 gene mutation
- You do not have mesothelioma, but a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or half-sibling has a confirmed inherited BAP1 gene mutation, and the closer relative is deceased or unable to be tested
- You do not have mesothelioma, but a grandparent, aunt, uncle, or half-sibling has both mesothelioma and a confirmed inherited BAP1 gene mutation
- You are at least 2 years old
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form (or a guardian can sign on your behalf)
Who may not be able to join:
- There are no stated reasons that would prevent someone from joining the genetic testing part of this trial
- For the ongoing monitoring (surveillance) part of the trial, your BAP1 gene mutation result may need to be confirmed through a certified laboratory test (confirm with trial site)
