Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are aged 18 or older but under 80 years old
- You have recently been diagnosed with colon or rectal cancer within the last 48 hours, confirmed by a camera examination of the bowel and a laboratory analysis of tissue samples
- Your blood clotting and general blood test results are within a normal range, with no significant abnormalities that could affect the study (confirm with trial site)
Who may not be able to join:
- You are allergic to aspirin or any similar anti-inflammatory painkiller (such as ibuprofen or naproxen)
- You have rectal cancer that requires pre-surgery treatment (such as chemotherapy or radiotherapy) starting within two weeks of beginning the study medication
- You have taken aspirin, anti-inflammatory painkillers, blood-thinning medications, steroids, or a drug called misoprostol in the 15 days before your diagnosis, or you are expected to need any of these drugs during the study
- You have a history of stomach ulcers, a current stomach ulcer, or any other gut condition that would make taking aspirin unsafe, unless you are also taking stomach-protecting medication
- You have been diagnosed with a bleeding disorder
- You have had another type of cancer (other than certain common skin cancers) in the past 3 years
- You have serious other health conditions, such as significant breathing, heart, liver, or kidney disease (diabetes is not a reason to be excluded)
- You are currently an active smoker
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a history of drug or alcohol misuse
