Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who have been newly diagnosed with colorectal cancer that has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic), or whose colorectal cancer has come back in a spreading form at least 3 months after finishing treatment for an earlier, non-spreading form of the disease.
- People who are planning to start, or have recently started, a first round of treatment using immunotherapy and/or chemotherapy drugs including 5-FU (alone or combined with oxaliplatin and/or irinotecan), with or without immunotherapy — capecitabine is also an accepted option.
- People with a life expectancy of at least 6 months, as estimated by their doctor.
- People who are able to read and understand English or Spanish, as questionnaires are completed in these languages.
- People who are willing and able to read and sign a written consent form agreeing to take part in the study.
- People of any weight or body mass index (BMI), including those whose weight has changed significantly (more than 10%) in the past 12 months, are eligible for this study.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are currently enrolled in hospice care.
- People who have already received systemic chemotherapy specifically for metastatic colorectal cancer (though people who completed adjuvant chemotherapy at least 3 months before the cancer returned may still be eligible — confirm with trial site).
- People who are currently taking part in another clinical trial involving an experimental treatment.
- People who have brain metastases (cancer that has spread to the brain) that have not yet been treated — people whose brain metastases have already been treated may still be eligible.
- People who are currently receiving radiation therapy or who are planning to receive it in the near future.
