Who might be able to join this trial:
- You are willing and able to sign a consent form agreeing to take part in the study
- You have been diagnosed with multiple myeloma or a related plasma cell disease that has come back or stopped responding to treatment, AND at least one of the following applies: your cancer did not respond to standard chemotherapy; your cancer came back after you achieved full remission and is considered high-risk or hard to treat; or your cancer came back after a stem cell transplant
- Tests show that your cancer cells have a specific protein called BCMA on their surface
- You are between 18 and 75 years old (any gender)
- Your doctors expect you to live for at least 3 more months
- Your general health and ability to carry out daily activities meets a minimum level (called KPS above 60 — confirm with trial site)
- You do not have any serious mental health conditions
- Your heart is pumping blood effectively enough (at least 50% efficiency, confirmed by a heart scan)
- Your liver is functioning well enough, based on blood test results
- Your kidneys are functioning well enough, based on blood test results
- Your blood oxygen level is at least 92% while breathing normal indoor air
- You are able to have blood collected safely, with no barriers to cell collection
Who may not be able to join:
- You have a history of another type of cancer
- You currently have an active infection that is not under control
- You have a condition that requires treatment with steroid medications (such as corticosteroids)
- You have active or ongoing graft-versus-host disease (GVHD — a complication sometimes seen after transplants; confirm with trial site)
- You are currently being treated with medications that suppress or block the activity of T cells (a type of immune cell)
- You are pregnant or currently breastfeeding
- You have any other situation that the study doctors feel makes participation unsuitable, such as HIV, hepatitis C infection, or a history of intravenous drug use (confirm with trial site)
