Who may be able to join

  • People who have been diagnosed with a specific type of lung cancer called lung adenocarcinoma, confirmed through a tissue or cell sample.
  • People whose cancer has spread to other parts of the body (metastatic disease).
  • People who are receiving the combination treatment of pembrolizumab, pemetrexed, and carboplatin as approved for use.
  • People who have at least two measurable tumour spots visible on a CT or MRI scan — one that can be reliably measured over time, and one that is between 15–40 mm and located in an area suitable for a freezing treatment called cryoablation (such as the lung, kidney, adrenal gland, soft tissue, or certain bone lesions — liver and certain bone lesions cannot be treated this way).
  • People aged 18 or older.
  • People who are well enough to carry out basic daily activities (a health score of 2 or lower on a standard medical scale).
  • Women who could become pregnant must have a negative blood pregnancy test before entering the trial.
  • People who have largely recovered from any side effects of previous cancer treatment (minor side effects, or hair loss, are acceptable).
  • People covered by the French social security system, in line with French research law.
  • People who are willing and able to attend scheduled visits and follow the study plan.
  • People who have given their written consent to participate before any study procedures begin.

Who may not be able to join

Each point below is a reason the trial team may not be able to accept someone. It is not a list of requirements to meet.

  • People whose lung cancer is a squamous cell type or any type other than adenocarcinoma.
  • People who have previously received systemic (whole-body) treatment for advanced lung cancer, except for treatment given after a complete surgical removal of earlier-stage cancer.
  • People who have used immunosuppressive medications, including oral steroids, within 21 days before starting pembrolizumab.
  • People with a known allergy or medical reason to avoid the immunotherapy drugs (PD-1/PD-L1 blockers) or chemotherapy used in this trial.
  • People with a known medical reason that prevents them from safely having cryoablation (the freezing treatment).
  • People whose blood clotting is abnormal in a way that makes a biopsy unsafe.
  • People who have had another cancer diagnosed or treated in the last 2 years, with some exceptions for certain low-risk cancers such as early cervical, skin, or prostate cancers (confirm with trial site).
  • People with an active, uncontrolled infection (bacterial, viral, or fungal) that requires medication.
  • People who have taken part in another clinical trial involving an experimental drug or device within the last 28 days.
  • People with a known HIV, hepatitis B, or hepatitis C infection.
  • People who are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • People who are unwilling to use contraception during the trial.
  • People with another illness or condition that, in the doctor's judgement, could interfere with the study or create unacceptable health risks.
  • People who have previously been enrolled in this same trial.
  • People who are in legal custody or under guardianship.
