Who might be able to join this trial:

• People diagnosed with idiopathic (standard) Parkinson's disease, including those with a family history of the condition, based on a recognised set of diagnostic guidelines (UK Brain Bank criteria)
• People with mild to moderate Parkinson's symptoms, rated at stages 1 to 3 on a standard scale (Hoehn & Yahr)
• People who currently exercise less than 120 minutes per week

Who may not be able to join:

• People with an atypical form of Parkinsonism, such as progressive supranuclear palsy, multiple system atrophy, or Parkinsonism caused by medication
• People with significant osteoporosis or arthritis
• People who have had cancer within the last 5 years
• People who have had a high dose of radiation from medical procedures within the past year
• People who are unable to pause their Parkinson's medication for up to 24 hours
• People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
• People with a current or past history of substance use problems
• People who have had a serious head injury involving loss of consciousness for 5 minutes or more
• People living with certain chronic conditions, including diabetes, kidney disease, high blood pressure, heart disease, or other known neurological disorders
• People with a significant breathing condition such as asthma or COPD, or who use home oxygen
• People with a current or past neurological disorder other than Parkinson's disease, such as stroke or seizures
• People with a current or past psychiatric disorder, such as depression or anxiety
• People with severe claustrophobia (a strong fear of enclosed spaces)
• People who weigh more than 158 kg (347 lbs)
• People who are unable to lie still for up to 90 minutes
• People who have not been medically cleared to exercise
• People taking certain medications or living with certain conditions that may affect participation — these cases would be reviewed individually with the study team (confirm with trial site)
• People who work as machinists or metalworkers
• People with a cardiac pacemaker, heart wires, or a defibrillator implanted in the body
• People with a history of a metal fragment lodging in or around the eye
• People with a ferromagnetic aneurysm clip in the brain or body
• People with an artificial heart valve
• People with an electrical stimulator implanted for nerves or bones
• People with an ear or eye implant
• People with an implanted drug infusion pump
• People with a coil, catheter, or filter inside a blood vessel
• People with orthopaedic hardware such as an artificial joint, metal plate, or screws
• People with other metallic prostheses
• People with shrapnel, bullets, or other metal fragments in the body
• People who wear dentures, braces, or a retainer
• People who have had brain or other surgery, tattoos, or a joint injection within the last 6 weeks
• People with pierced body parts other than ears, or tattooed eyeliner
• People with a non-MRI-safe intrauterine device (IUD)
• People found to have significant cognitive impairment or depression following enrolment
• People found to have significant or unstable heart or breathing disease, identified through a screening exercise test
• People who do not complete at least 60 of the 72 scheduled exercise classes during the trial
