Who might be able to join this trial:
- Women aged 35–49 or 50–70 who went through menopause before age 40 (called premature menopause) or at age 45 or younger (called early menopause)
- Women aged 35–49 who have not yet reached menopause (still having periods)
- Women aged 50–70 who went through menopause at the typical age (after age 45)
- Menopause must be confirmed by having had no periods for 12 months and a specific hormone level (FSH above 30 mIU/mL) shown in a blood test
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have used nicotine or tobacco products in the past six months
- People who have diabetes or asthma
- People who have been diagnosed with a significant narrowing of the arteries in the neck (carotid stenosis)
- People with a history of significant problems with the nervous system that controls automatic body functions, heart disease, breathing/lung disease, or a serious neurological condition such as a stroke or traumatic brain injury
- People with existing problems related to metabolism or hormone-producing glands
- People taking any heart or blood pressure medications that the trial team determines could interfere with the study results
- Premenopausal participants currently taking the contraceptive pill or other hormone-based treatments that the trial team determines could interfere with study results
- Women who experienced early or premature menopause and are not willing to stop taking the contraceptive pill or hormone replacement therapy for the duration of the study
- People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
