Who might be able to join this trial:
For the YOGI group (database and questionnaire):
- People who have been diagnosed with a gastrointestinal cancer, confirmed by a tissue or cell sample test
- People who were between 18 and 49 years old at the time of agreeing to take part
- For the stool sample collection part only: people who have no known inherited condition that increases cancer risk
- For the stool sample collection part only: people with no history of inflammatory bowel disease (such as Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis)
- For the stool sample collection part only: people who have not previously been diagnosed with gastrointestinal cancer
For the Control group (database and questionnaire):
- People who have been diagnosed with colorectal cancer (bowel cancer), confirmed by a tissue or cell sample test
- People who have not yet received any treatment for their colorectal cancer, including surgery, chemotherapy, immunotherapy, or radiation therapy
- People who were 50 years old or older at the time of agreeing to take part
- People with no known inherited condition that increases cancer risk
- People with no history of inflammatory bowel disease
- People who have not previously been diagnosed with colorectal cancer
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a known hereditary colorectal cancer or other inherited cancer predisposition syndrome
- People with a history of inflammatory bowel disease
- People who have previously been diagnosed with gastrointestinal or colorectal cancer (depending on the group)
- People who have already received treatment for colorectal cancer (Control group only)
- People outside the specified age ranges for each group
