Who might be able to join this trial:
- You may be eligible if a heart monitoring test (called a Holter recording) showed that you have at least 30 irregular heartbeats per hour coming from the upper chambers of your heart, or a run of at least 20 of these irregular beats in a row.
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are younger than 70 years old or older than 89 years old cannot join
- People who have been diagnosed with atrial fibrillation or atrial flutter (common types of irregular heart rhythm) cannot join
- People who are already on lifelong blood-thinning medication (anticoagulants) cannot join
- People who have an implanted heart device (such as a pacemaker or defibrillator) cannot join
- People who have heart failure where the heart is pumping at 30% or less of its normal capacity cannot join
- People who have severe heart valve disease cannot join
