Who might be able to join this trial:
- People who are 22 years of age or older
- People who speak English
- People who have been diagnosed with idiopathic Parkinson's disease (Parkinson's disease with no known cause) at any stage of the disease, as confirmed by a neurologist
- People who have mild to moderate drooling or difficulty managing saliva, based on a specific scoring tool used to measure this (confirm with trial site)
- People whose Parkinson's medication is working at its best level during all study visits (known as the "on" phase)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who have had a lung infection caused by inhaling saliva or food (aspiration pneumonia) in the past 12 months
- People who cannot swallow their own saliva without using a special technique or maneuver
- People who are currently receiving treatment for swallowing difficulties or excessive saliva
- People who currently have problems with alcohol or drug misuse
- People who have been diagnosed with a neurological condition other than Parkinson's disease
- People who have advanced dementia
- People who have a history of cancer or surgery involving the head or neck
- People who are unable to show that they can use the study's sensor device and technology
- People who have a known allergy to the contrast material used in a specific type of swallowing X-ray test (called MBSS)
- People who have a known allergy to sensor adhesive (the sticky material used to attach the study sensors)
- People who have a permanent breathing tube in their throat (tracheostomy tube)
- People who have a feeding tube inserted through the nose (nasogastric tube)
- People who are currently pregnant
