Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults (18 years or older)
- People who are either being treated as outpatients or are currently in hospital
- People who have a confirmed active cancer diagnosis — meaning cancer diagnosed within the past 6 months, or cancer that has come back or spread and is currently being treated or was treated in the last 6 months (certain cancer types are not included — see the exclusion list below)
- People who have had at least one episode of irregular heart rhythm called atrial fibrillation (AF) — either a new episode that started after their cancer diagnosis, or a return of AF that they had before their cancer diagnosis
- People whose heart was in a normal, regular rhythm at the time their cancer was diagnosed
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are receiving palliative (end-of-life comfort) care, or whose death is expected within one month of their AF episode
- People who had long-term or permanent atrial fibrillation before their cancer diagnosis
- People whose cancer is a basal-cell or squamous-cell skin cancer, a primary brain tumour, cancer that has spread to the brain, or acute leukaemia
