Who might be able to join this trial:
- People aged 18 to 65 years old
- People who have been diagnosed with an anxiety disorder (such as Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, or Specific Phobia), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or an adjustment disorder involving anxiety
- People who are currently receiving or seeking mental health treatment
- People who are able to read and understand a consent form and agree to take part
- People whose first or main language is English
Who may not be able to join:
- People with a current alcohol or drug use problem that is more than mild in severity
- People who have ever been diagnosed with a psychotic disorder or bipolar disorder with manic episodes
- People who have a neurological condition that would make a brain stimulation technique (called TMS) or brain recording unsafe — this includes a seizure disorder, a history of traumatic brain injury with loss of consciousness, or a degenerative brain disease such as Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, or Frontotemporal Dementia
- People with a physical health condition that would make it too uncomfortable to sit or lie still for long periods
- People with conditions or characteristics that make MRI scanning or brain stimulation (rTMS) unsafe — this includes having metal implants in the body, being currently pregnant, having claustrophobia (fear of enclosed spaces), being sensitive to loud noise, having a medical condition or taking treatments that lower the seizure threshold, or having a history of severe brain injury or seizures/epilepsy
- People currently taking anticholinergic medications, antipsychotic (neuroleptic) medications, or sleeping/sedative medications (note: certain other medications such as SSRIs, cholinesterase inhibitors, or NMDA receptor antagonists may be permitted if the person has been on a stable dose for at least four weeks before joining — confirm with trial site)
- People currently taking long-term opioid medications or substances
- People currently taking naltrexone
