- People who are currently admitted to hospital as an inpatient
- People who have been diagnosed with at least one of three heart conditions: heart failure, coronary artery disease (a condition where the arteries supplying the heart become narrowed), or atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm)
Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to give their informed consent to participate in the trial
- People whose current hospital admission began with a severe state of shock, including cardiogenic shock (when the heart suddenly cannot pump enough blood to the body)
- People who have previously had a heart transplant, or who currently have a mechanical device implanted to help their heart pump blood
