  • Adults aged 18 or older who are taking a type of blood-thinning medication called a direct oral anticoagulant (DOAC) and are scheduled for a planned heart artery imaging procedure (coronary angiogram) or a procedure to open blocked heart arteries (such as a stent placement)

Who may not be able to join:

  • People who are being treated for an emergency or urgent heart attack condition
  • People under 18 years of age

  • People who have had a major surgery in the 30 days before the procedure
  • People whose radial artery (in the wrist) was found to be unusable during a previous procedure
  • People who have had a stomach or bowel bleed in the past 6 months
  • People who have a history of bleeding in the brain, eye, spine, or inside a joint without an injury causing it
  • People who have a long-term bleeding disorder
  • People who have a known brain tumour, abnormal blood vessel formation in the brain, or a brain aneurysm
  • People with known low red blood cell levels below a certain threshold (confirm with trial site)
  • People who are currently pregnant or breastfeeding
  • People with significant liver disease, such as hepatitis or cirrhosis, or abnormal liver enzyme levels detected on blood tests
