- You are an adult with moderate to severe depression (based on a standard depression rating scale score of 18 or above) and have had 3 or more depressive episodes in your lifetime.
- OR you are an adult with moderate to severe depression (based on a standard depression rating scale score of 18 or above) and this is your first depressive episode.
- OR you are an adult who has never experienced any signs of depression (to serve as a comparison group).
Who may not be able to join:
- You are not registered with national health insurance.
- You are under a legal protection order, such as being under curatorship or guardianship.
- You are currently pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are unable to give your own consent to participate.
- You are under 18 years old.
- You have been diagnosed with metabolic syndrome (a combination of certain conditions affecting your waist size, blood fats, blood pressure, and blood sugar — confirm with trial site).
- You have type 1 or type 2 diabetes.
- Your depression is considered mild (based on a standard rating scale score below 18).
- You are currently taking antipsychotic medication.
- You have been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
- You have a moderate to severe alcohol use disorder.
- You have been diagnosed with schizophrenia.
- You have been diagnosed with a persistent delusional disorder.
- You have been diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder.
