Who might be able to join this trial:
- Adults aged over 18 years
- People who have persistent atrial fibrillation (an irregular heart rhythm lasting more than 7 days but less than 1 year) that is causing symptoms, and whose condition meets current guidelines for a specific heart procedure called pulmonary vein isolation

Who may not be able to join:
- People who are unable to safely undergo a catheter ablation procedure for atrial fibrillation — for example, those with a blood clot in the upper left chamber of the heart, or those who cannot take any blood-thinning medications
- People who have previously had a catheter ablation procedure on the upper left chamber of the heart for any heart rhythm problem
- People with severe heart failure (the most serious category) or with very poor heart pumping function (confirm with trial site)
- People with a type of atrial fibrillation that comes and goes (paroxysmal), or that has lasted for more than 1 year (longstanding persistent)
- People who have had heart bypass surgery or heart valve surgery within the past 3 months
- People who have previously had heart valve surgery involving a mechanical replacement valve
- People whose kidney artery anatomy makes the procedure unsuitable — including arteries that are too small or too short, arteries with significant narrowing or abnormalities, arteries that have already been treated with a balloon or stent procedure, or people with multiple main arteries supplying either kidney
- People with significantly reduced kidney function, as measured by a standard blood test (confirm specific threshold with trial site)
- People with any medical condition where life expectancy is less than 1 year
