Who may be able to join
- Children and teenagers aged 8 to 17 years old.
- People who have been diagnosed with ulcerative colitis (a type of inflammatory bowel condition) for more than 3 months, affecting any part of the colon except a very small area at the end (less than 5 cm).

- People who are able to swallow capsules used in the trial.

- People who have health insurance coverage.
- People whose parents or legal guardians have signed a written consent form agreeing to participation in the trial.
Who may not be able to join

- People whose ulcerative colitis affects only a very small area at the end of the bowel (less than 5 cm), known as isolated proctitis.
- People who are currently on tube feeding (enteral nutrition).
- People who have taken antibiotic or antifungal medications in the 4 weeks before enrolling.
- People who have had a specific gut infection called Clostridioides difficile in the 4 weeks before enrolling.
- People who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have a positive pregnancy test result.
- People who have a medical reason why they cannot safely have a colonoscopy or general anaesthetic.
